My last house in Palm Beach,Fl had the laundry room partly opened to the garage, so did every house in the development, they were fairly new and fairly expensive homes, so I would think there is nothing illegal about it ,at least in south Florida..
Made sense since most people just use the garage as either a party room or inlaws room down there,few ever use it as garage.
