It was great watching them race on TV back then but if you were a spectator you would only see them go by about 4-5 times and not to close to you, as each lap was 17 miles long. With helicopters following them and filming for TV you always seen what was going on but on shore or in the spectator fleet you only saw about 20 minutes of the race as they went by, not great to draw in more spectators or sponsors to the sport. I really wish that there was better coverage of offshore racing for TV and more on board camera's with engine sounds. Thanks for posting.
