Chaparral Value...

My friend owns a 2006 Chaparral 256ssi, w/ 496 and B3.
It has approx 85hrs and one yr of warranty left on it.
It was commissioned in 2007.

He wants out... and is thinking of just donating it.
What do you think the fair value is?
It has bottom paint and is in good condition.
From what i can gather from boattrader and yachtworld, 35k would be about right.

What are your thoughts?

Low NADA without any options is 35k. Why would not just sell it for low ball price, maybe around 25-30k?????

He doesn't want to bother w/ the BS that comes w/ selling.
I told him to find out what a donation will give him, and go to the local dealer and find out what they can blow it out for. It will cost him 4-5k for having the boat pulled, winterized, storage, and recomissioned for next year, so it would make sense to get out now for that discount.

If he doesnt want to deal with the BS of selling, tell him I will pay to have the boat pulled and come pick it up (family is in De)!!! I'll even bring a case of beer (of his choice) for him ;)

Is this an open bow boat? Trailer? If so I bet it could be sold quick to a friend of mine looking for this exact type of boat. Shoot me a PM. Thanks.

The laws have changed regarding vehicle donation. You don't get to deduct the value of the vehicle. You only get to deduct what the charity ends up selling it for and obviously they are less motivated to get top dollar and more motivated to turn the boat into cash quickly.
