Guess thats why Merc chit is so high!

Really? If you can afford the cig you can afford Merc Chit who pay Americans a middle class wage. The Class that is the economy of the Country.

After seeing so many Manufacturing Companies ship jobs oveseas because of corperate greed is it any wonder youth stay away from the field like the plague? Americans are our own worst enemy when it comes to the economy. We shop at Walmart instead of supportiing our local hardware or grocery store and we think middle class wages is the root of all evil.

Are you serious? Why don't you take that communist propaganda to a liberal website. Companies ship jobs overseas because of over regulation (supported by unions) over taxation (supported by unions) and high labor cost (supported by unions). We all know the root of evil is communist ideology which the unions have long supported. Take away private property and see how long people can run a business while their own employees organize against them. Were it not for the feds putting a 20% tariff on yamaha's merc wouldn't even have an outboard market. Go ahead, blame it on greedy corporations when the unions are supporting the very policies that run companies out of the country. Thats like blaming a bartender for making you sick after a night of drinking. Greed? Whats more greedy than forcing workers to pay dues or lose their job? Whats more greedy than a union boss giving himself million dollar pensions paid for by the working man after he is forced into a union. Whats more greedy than thinking you have a right to other peoples private property.

the sad thing is, our own government is really the reason most companys are going out of buisness or downsizing, it cost the owner of a buisness, for workman comp, insurance, etc. the owners of companys can move it overseas and get the job done for next to nothing. but if the government here would wake the hell up and realize that if we keep going the way were going the only jobs here will be in fastfood, cause they keep pushing more and more buisnesses out of the US sorry to post such a long post but it makes me sick to see or hear of a buisness moving or closing its doors cause of the slow economy, when the government is not worried about us here, there worried about leaving billions of dollars overseas on military equipment so the next time we go to war with them we have to fight against our own equipment, now to me thats ****in retarded.

Yes, but its the unions that are lobbying for these policies. All these higher labor cost are a product of union lobbyist.

So maybe Merc should ship all there work overseas to China so they don't have to pay middle class wages at all, union or non-union?? I think its a sign of lean times right now, business is down, companys are consolidating operations, blame the Unions all you want, they are a easy scape goat. What I really like is guys like you that brag about all the non-union Toyota plants and such in the south, great business model, etc, etc. You will cry like a BITCCH though when they (the workers) get a little older and they have no retirement or health insurance when Toyota is done with them and YOUR taxes have to pay to take care of them the rest of their lives. And, oh yeah, the Japs have UNIONS back home at Toyota but love the fact they can get dumb hill billys (in their mind) to work for them in Texas with no retirement or long term benefits!

Greed is what caused the unions to be formed.

Actually the first unions had nothing to do with greed, workers organized/fought to get work hours cut to only 10 hours a day and 6 days a week.

Present
The beginnings of the American labor movement

In the early years of the republic, efforts by tradesmen to create better conditions by refusing to work and trying to prevent others from working were considered criminal offenses. Journeymen boot-makers and shoe-makers were put on trial in Philadelphia in 1806 and convicted of criminal conspiracy. This set the standard attitude towards organized work disruptions until 1842, when the principle of criminal conspiracy was rejected by the Supreme Court of Massachusetts.

The New York Workingmen's Party lasted only a short time, formed in 1829 and disappearing in 1830. However, it publicized a new goal, the reduction of daily time of labor to ten hours. Since the work week was still six days, this radical demand was for no more than sixty hours of work a week

Thanks for the history lesson. When I said greed I was thinking more of the early 20th century barrons of industry and the start of that era's unions.

I'm not sure how to get the message to the guys in OK, but I know Case-New Holland factory in Wichita, Kansas is hiring. It's not too far of a relocation if the opportunity fits for the Merc guys.

If anyone has contact with Merc HR or is going to the job fair you might want to mention this. Unfortuantely, I don't know how to get the word to those guys.
