I was wondering when Mercury would totally pull the plug on Stillwater and now I guess we all know now. This is another huge sad annoucement for our industry and I really send my best wishes and hope for better times to all involved. I know if I needed personel at this time I would be taking advantage of this job fair and I encourage any of our OSO members or readers who can, DO and help spread the word and help these good people!
I know this has gone on all over America in the last few years and here's a wish that we can all pray for is that this shrinkage stops and the real caring people in charge of our great country and industies can get this ship back righted again and put all these people back to work!
Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

This is horrible news for the people of Stillwater, but good news for the people of Fond du Lac. The jobs are not leaving the country...they are being re-located to the home of Mercury.
As a former Mercury Marine employee, I know that FDL, WI is nothing without Merc there. With many friends and family still living in FDL, and working at Merc, I am happy to see that the manufacturing base in central WI is strengthening....but sadly at the expense of other American jobs in Stillwater.

skill set...need to know computers and screwdrivers. I don't know the exact pay...it comes down to experience. I just know starting January we are going to open up our own school to teach techs to work in our stores. Land Rover, Jag, BMW, Benz, and all the domestic brands.

Manufacturing jobs are in high demand right now. Companies like Chesapeak Energy and Siemens can't find enough people.. Siemens has 3000 jobs available. it may require change in lifestyle or relocation... I moved to MD this year for my wife.
