Hey, I was just thrilled to be able to report some good news. That hasn't been easy lately.

Contrary to popular opinion, not all journalists thrive on reporting the negative Don't get me wrong, I'll report it. But if I had my preference, it would all be good.

Back on topic ... cool new stuff.

Yeah, I'm excited to see the 29....maybe another SVL boat in the making sometime soon...?

Maybe someone can answer this (Dan?). I understand there is a bustle incorporated into the 29? Is that part of the measurement?

The actual hull length is 28ft and change. Cant remember the actual inches number. With the Bustle its actually just over 29ft.

Must admit I had hoped see it with an Ilmor/Indy setup, but hey, still very cool.

It can sure be an option!! Guess what, I was supposed to buy the first one and put an Ilmor in it but we got the 40 instead.

My GUESS would be that since this is the first, it is being built around the more common Merc paltform for proving and testing. Like you, I'd like to see this set up with a big Ilmor/Indy setup... it would no doubt be a runner!!! :eek:

Ken, I think you made a great choice with the 40. Its a sweet boat!

Not to rain on their parade, BUT WTF? Are the building the deck plug out of wood? This would be 1970 technology! In this day and age, WHY are they not tooling this on a CAD system? If i am wrong, i apologize, but if this is a back-shop wooden plug, then I m shocked!

Funny, as i read the title of this thread, i thought it was from over a year ago.

My guess is you're remembering this story, Outerlimits 28-footer to Begin Production in Late June (http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats...late-june.html) from speedonthewater.com, which ran May 26, 2011.

Good things take time ... often more time than boat builders plan.

As for the center console, while Mike Fiore has been talking to me about it for quite awhile, this was the first time he wanted to go "on the record" about it.

Fiore would be one of the first boat builders to tell you how tough things are these days. What I like about him, and what I like about Outerlimits, is he's trying to do something about it.

yes, good things take time, and OL is pretty busy w/ their bigger boats. I remember some discussion about pricing on this. My guess is 185k w/a 525.

180K with a 525 is the retail number.

As i was heading out of there, they were pulling in w/ their rigs. They would have broken the ice for introductions... otherwise I would have seemed creepy and gay coming over to tables saying "hi i'm stormrider. are any of you on OSO?" :lolhit:
