Anyone know how to post articles from proboat.com? Two great ones on OL - general article and a full article on FEA and development of the sub-structure in many of their hulls. Really pushing the envelope.

Nor-tech...I'm not even getting into that here...they're...good, but OL is the Lamborghini of boats...and the Ferrari...not many can touch them in big water, period...

This is known....Overall I don't think Nor-tech and Cig are in the same league as Outerlimits...just been in the business longer...for cig..nortech has never really spun my gears..I have my own opinion for both builders, but as far as the Aronow branding, I feel OL deserves the rights, hands down...

After all, Offshore Racing wasn't about toilets and pretty down-stairs, it was about performance, pure and simple...

Nortech has never built a competitive race boat.. I won't remind of the disaster that happened......Cigarette did..but the minute stepped bottoms came along...that ended that...last cig that ran well in supervee....Skater did the layup...

You shouldn't even have them in the same sentence here...

Don't turn this into step vs no step...or some stupid argument over paint or whatever else it comes down to...the fact is..OL is winning, and they have been for a few years now...in the spirit of competition...either start competing or quit complaining...that's my humble opinion..

Their hull broke the LI Record...not cigarette...not nor tech...not fountain...and I'm sure if Aronow and the rights wanted this edition to go to Cigarette...they would've given it to em....that SAYS something...

just quoting you..so it doesn't change..again..

Okay Pat you have some good info and some opion in here, let's take a closer look. In the first bold print you have your opinion which we are greatful for but you say it like it a fact, then in the second bold print we clearly have an opinion stated by you which again we are greatful for,but here we go again in the third bold type you are back to giving your opinion and stated it as fact you. I am not sure what the argument is at the end of the day. Is it that Outerlimits better then everything out there period? Is it that they have developed the best and fastest V bottom hull? Is it that the Aronow thing just seems like a bad idea? Is Outerlimits going to sell any of these boats because of the paint and tribute or is it because it is the best and fastest? . I will say I think it is true that the OL is the best engineered hull out there which translates into strength and speed, with that being said I have heard from OL owners about certain hulls that they have that ride extremely hard and have been prone to spinning out. Know these are not my words but things that have been said to me in conversations. Also one last thing I heard you where recently thinking about buying a new boat I know where there is a 46 Cig Rough Rider:evilb:. We would be glad to have you:kiss: For the record I don't think [B]in my opinion that there is a faster v hull boat out there then OL and if that is what you are looking for then they are the easy choice.

Frank, what I peruse personally and look at for deals have no bearing on this thread. The 37QS and single step...those are the two hulls I was referring to when I spoke to you about them...also the spinning...

My point is, Cigarette does a great job at rigging, hands down...

For what Outerlimits does in it's boats, across the board, I think they take the cake for the best built boat...that's what I am saying....

My 42' Straight bottom Tiger w/ Big Power...cracked it's gas tanks running through severe rough water...I loved the boat...but that was a pretty messy fix..not to mention admitted as a design flaw. I love Cigarette, but I do not think they are the top dog anymore.

Outerlimits for the hull, speed, rough water handling in a stepped bottom is beyond compare...

and JASS, I was adding other things in my opinion I felt were pertinent to the post. I am allowed to modify what I say....

you lost me with this comment.

Nor-tech has done nothing in the ways of racing....

The one boat they did almost killed it's occupants... how is that not cut and dry?

Nor-tech is nor-tech...I have to be very careful because I know what I'd say here, but if I say it...I'm sure I'll be attacked...

Nor-Tech's hulls...well...they just aren't fast...I'm speaking about the VEEs...

I agree that OL has probably developed the fastest hull than anyone else in an apples to apples comparison (insert Fountain joke here :D).... but let's put some reality into this. 99% of all boats are not run at WFOT all of the time.....especially by those of us who actually own boats (and have to pay for that boat, insurance, gas, oil changes, maintenance and blown up chit). So, given the current state of the economy and the boat industry as a whole, I think that maybe that is the reason that people's azzes get chapped with all of the cheerleading and nonsense of putting down all other brands. ;)

As far as OL working with the Aronow Family to put out a DA tribute edition boat, Congrats! :)

Pat sorry about the Cig thingdid not know that was hush hush and thought it was more of a spoof, and it was not you I was talking about on the other comment. Once again I think OL is benchmark on the best hull design I guess for me my Cigarette even though 10 years old fits all my needs. I am not crazy about the this tribute thing but who the hell cares what I think it really means nothing, I just get tired of reading post after post of OL is the second coming that's all it actually is a turn off and it is too bad because they do built an excellent boat. I would let the product speak for itself.

Oh I agree...but this thread is on the fact they're releasing a tribute boat....so I have to say...it's a given...

Yes, they're not the end all and be all, but they do allot of things well :)
