Not necessarily. Take Baja for example. Say you wanted a 29 Outlaw. There is probably a couple dozen of them on the market at any given time.

People who want a custom boat will seek them out and even wait for one to come on the market. Quality custom boats that are priced right sell faster than you might think.

I sold my last Superboat in less than a month. The boat I bought to replace it was not even on the market. I heard through the grapevine that the previous owner was considering selling so I called him.

I suggested y2k because,
Nice looks, nice ride, I like singles, not a cookie cutter that you'll see ten of at the docks. Priced reasonably.
This will be my next boat in a couple yrs

Agreed if I had his budget I wouldnt be getting a baja or checkmate.
The Checkmate is a hand laid semi-custom boat. They are light on the bling compared to some others, but they are priced right. They have a true 24deg V and perform very well.

The biggest problem with Checkmate is they are currently kind of lacking models in the requested range. They make the Convincor 300 (which is the old 283 hull) and nothing else until the new ZT35 (which is the old Baja 342 hull).

I am thinking about moving up a little bit and I would love a Checkmate 300.

But then again, I would trade my 253 on a Superboat Y2K in a second.

Not arguing with anyone's logic here, but just wanted to mention that Checkmates are great bang-for-the-buck. Mine certainly isn't the completely custom-built rough-water machine that some of these are (some great boats mentioned), but it holds its own quite well, esp on most lakes. Ask my Hawk40/TopGun/42Fountain friends... it's an angry little boat. I'll likely move on to something like a 33 PP for rough water capability, but this boat has been great in the 3-4 years I have owned it.

Carry on.

I love sb and pantera. My two fav mfg
I kinda think sb jumped the shark on stepping the 24 but the y2k really does it for me. Pantera 28s are nice but imo kinda heavy for a single screw and I like singles.
MD
Active thunder 28s are pretty b!tchen too
