Default DCB M35s,Orange, 1350s/M8s Flips Over on Havasu

The DCB M35s "Orange" boat, 1350s/M8s, has flipped over on Lake Havasu. Read the article at Havasunews.com

All four people in the M35 ok. All were ejected and wearing life jackets!

Havasunews.com / full article and read the story.

Horrible news, such a beautiful boat in person.

Alcohol and excessive speed not factors. All were wearing vests. You don't hear that much. Any accident is terrible. Glad to finally hear of one with a positive outcome.

WOW!!!
Poker, when did you pick up a boat?
I remember you taking some grief when I signed here last year for being new and having lots of posts and no boat.
Congrats.

Later,
Kelly

I believe that is his father's boat.

How does a boat like this flip when excessive speed and alcohol are not involved? It's even a center pod boat which you'd think would be more stable at speed.

Mechanical error, driver error, freak accident, who knows.

There can be a lot of factors involved. I know nothing about the DCB 35, but some hulls has less directional stability at lower speeds than others and have a greater tendency to act funny. That could cause the boat to maybe burry a sponson tip then stuff and flip/roll when "sliding" off a wake. Maybe the boat lost bite when he tried to steer off the wake and then grabbed and went over. The DCB's are known to be great boats and I would be very surprised if it was due to a design error.

Sometimes things just happen really fast and accidents occur. It's very sad when they do, but nothing on the water at speed is 110% safe. We'll not always know why and in cases like this, I'd say it's anyones guess. We must just do our best to make sure everything is as safe as possible when out there and boat with the brain switched on.

Let's see what the story brings in the future and hope for a speedy recovery to all involved.
