P1 Superstock racing
Talk about challenging, competitive and fun -- check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx93ltjCPUY I've never seen this before, and with the low cost to get into it and operations, I'd like to see it grow fast. With these smaller boats, you don't need 8 foot waves to make it exciting!
|
That's ridiculous! It's like bumper boats. No regard for thier or their competitors safety.
|
That was the old UK based Honda series which was a great example of absolutely no discipline in powerboat racing and not how the rest of us race! The series has been replaced by a US and UK based one design commissioned by P1, in the UK they used Evinrude engines which have had some teething problems due to the factory wanting to see what broke first before making saddles etc stronger, the Fountain built hulls in the UK series have also suffered after one seasons light use.

Im so excited about this class. I would love to know more about it and visit with someone who is racing this year.
Where can I find more info on dates, rules, schedules, etc for the US version of this? I can only find the UK stuff.. |

It's some great racing with good boat count.

I see the same attitude to driver discipline is taken on both sides of the pond - there is no reason for boats to be touching in offshore racing - ever! The You Tube promo for the UK series has a heavy collision repeated in slow motion, presumably to show how dangerous the racing is! :angry-smiley-038:
|
One recommendation to the series - open up the exhaust! These things are painful to watch they are so damn quiet!
|
The fact that the class has such high boat count numbers is the biggest draw in my opinion. And from what I can tell, it prevents those with deeper pockets from buyin their trophies. And itll be more like baja, those with the strongest back will be the ones that keep comin to the races!

What is the "boat count". From what I heard in Detroit it was like 5 boats which were all owned by P1. Who owns one and who is buying one?
I was at the last race in San Diego so I know how many were there!!! |

I know 2 are owned boats and the owner of one is purchasing another the rest were leased boats and I know of at least 2-3 other boats that are about to be purchased not bad for an inaugural season for the class.

Who is going to be building the boats now? Fountain was building them, now they are done. Any ideas?
