I also think that they should race if they want to and if they don't want to race it is totally understandable. We lost 3 great racers this week and everyone is mourning their lost and are still in shock but I would think that they would want the races to continue because they were racers and loved the sport. Lets all say a little prayer for them and for those who are still racing.

Very well said, Trent. After the April, 2003 accident in Daytona Beach, when Jack Stoerrle's boat barrel rolled in my wake and he lost his life, I decided then and there to no longer race. I had just become a father and felt that I could no longer afford the risk. The point is that was a decision that I made MYSELF, the sanctioning body didn't make it for me. All racers deserve the opportunity to make these very difficult decisions for themselves: they need to calculate the risks and weigh them against their own life circumstances at the time. Out of respect to Joey, Bob, JT and every other racer who has perished in the past (and yes, there are FAR too many of them), let's let every future racer make the decision to continue to race, or not, ON THEIR OWN TERMS.
God Speed, guys.

Well put Trent and Tom. Out of respect and memory of the departed, (RIP) go race safely. I would like to see all the boats make a go around, all together at a reasonable pace, (not race speed) in honor of past on racers. Call it a respect, or honor lap

Default Considering the tradegies

They can't put the race on live tv, to show the dedicated hard work, life threatening racing on tv, instead they play ****ing nascar and a bunch of other bull ****..

Jiggsy, are you a racer, probable not and with that said yes
the race should and will go on,you can bet your ass if Bob,JT and Joey were here they would say lets race because that is what they did for years and years, even when other people passed. It is not criminal to be a competitor and do what you love but if someone decides not to run that that is there choice and I would nor should anyone pass judgement on them.Who ever does race be safe and have fun and most of all remember all of the good times many of us spent with all three of these great guys.
