This was my favorite event of the year to attend. There have been rumors every year of them bringing it back, but they never can get a legit sponsor secured after McDonalds backed out.

I hope this does happen. I went the first year I moved down here and then they cancelled it and have always hoped they'd bring it back.
It's a cool show and would be even more fun now that I have a boat

Miss GEICO will be there!!
Lauderdale Air Show returning in 2012 after 5 year hiatus Andrew Smolenski, General Aviation Examiner
November 16, 2011
.When the Lauderdale Air Show came to an end in 2007, the skies remained quiet along the beaches for 5 years. Today, Lauderdale Air Show LLC announced the return of the air show, beginning with the 2012 season. The show is scheduled to occur during fleet week, April 28-29, 2012.
There are currently no military performance teams scheduled, however, this will most likely change once the teams begin to announce their 2012 scheduled sometime in December. Even with the recent announcement, there are already 3 civilian performers lined up for the air show. The most recent addition is Rob Holland, the 2011 Freestyle Aerobatic Champion along with two GEICO sponsored acts, the GEICO Skytypers and Miss GEICO, a powerboat, vs. the Skytypers.
The city of Ft. Lauderdale is also pledging $150,000 to help cover the show expenses but the funds will not be provided until after the show closes. The city commissioners approved a three-year agreement with Lauderdale Air Show LLC that should bring the air show back through the 2014 season.
