Roller cams are much less sensitive than a flat tappet.

I am debating between the Mobil 1 15W-50, and the V-Twin 20W-50. So I called Mobil and asked about running the V-Twin 20W-50 in a automotive/marine engine. They strongly recommended against it. Anyone running the V-Twin oil in their boat engines? Any issues with it? Thanks.

The Mobil 1 V Twin oil has a high level of Zink (1600) ppm because an air cooled V Twin (typically a Harley) needs the added protection. Also the high zink levels are required for flat tappet lifters. The zink on the standard Mobil 1 15-50 is 1200 PPM.

All the zinc you will ever need, but you won't find this at normal retailers.

Find your local distributor and they will sell to you direct.

Running it in mild roller cam small blocks, they see long periods of WOT (1hr+) oil pressure is higher with v twin over M115-50. Also running it in 114" hi compression Shovel head HD. Used to have 0 psi (real)hot idling in traffic with Golden Spectro 20-50 syn. Now never see less than 10 in same conditions.
based on what I've seen this stuff works.

I wasn't sure how long it would be there when I saw it so I bought all they had on the shelf, which was only 8 jugs.
