Heads Up Mechanical Trim/Drive Indicators
1 Attachment(s)
Is Stainless Marine the only manufacturer?
Why are they so expensive??? Any used ones for sale? ...or trade for some Hydromotive props (http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...v-22p-l-r.html)? Here's what I found for prices on the Stainless Marine "4 track" (trim & drives): CP Performance: $759.99 Diamond Performance: $799.00 Stainless Marine: $849.00 Monster Marine: $1149.00 I want to make room on my dash panel to flush mount the Garmin. |
SS marine requires a lot of room under them too! more than on top! If these are not mounted at eye level or higher...as in sit down boat. they are a waste of money because you will not utilize their accuracy. SSM also make a LED in dash set too which i have rigged with in the past and loved because the LED jumps out at you and they work in extreme sunlight and at night time.
Livorsi Marine are great for 99% of all applications! even race! |

I used the cables I had. Make sure you have plenty of room under your dash, they are very long

make sure you tell them at SSM (wherever you're buying them) what cables you have. they have different adaptors from their cables. using teleflex morse cables requires a bunch more room at the bottom and to make the turn. SSM cables are more like a bicycle cable and can turn a bit sharper too.

You can build it up a bit if you need to make room or bring it to more of an eye level. I attached a couple pics of the Apache so you can see what I am talking about. They are worth the money...very easy to read... you can stripe them for indicating dead level just like on the laydown surface indicators.

That price for a 4 track is just the dash unit , ad 279 per for actuators , tru hull fittings and 3.99 per ft cable over 16 ft . All said and done over 2 K . My complete 4 track will be around 1200 and that is everything you need , NO EXTRA PARTS TO BUY !Stainless marine 4 track and 4 Act , cables , thru hulls you talking over 2100!!!!!

My, you must be a real innovator. Have you considered inventing anything else?

If you never have to invent or prototype anything, it is MUCH cheaper to make a product. Are you Chinese?

Well you get what you pay for. everything i have ever bought from stainless marine was top quality and the service is too.

They make nice stuff and I believe it was Blue-water that made the first indicator in dash unit . I will tell you this I have a buddy with a 30 skater that went thru 6 cables in 2 yrs from Stainlerss marine

ps...pop up style indicators are more susceptible to debris and the elements of an open boat. i've spent far more time servicing, cleaning, and calibrating SSM in an existing application VS. a Livorsi were all the upkeep is done at the drive and or tabs. |
I have had Stainless Marines No Slack cables on two different Donzi's for more than 10 yrs with no problems ever. If you adjust them correctly (as in they don't bottom out at either end) there isn't a problem with them.

Looking forward to seeing your finished product. And to those critical of you...........two words..........FREE ENTERPRISE. Wonder if Bluewater sent SM a nastygram when SM came out with their indicator? |
