NEW 37' Outerlimits rolled and sank !!

I have heard the news that a 37' Outerlimits that was sold from DSM to a customer in Califronia was rolled and sank in the past week. The boat was brand spankin' new also. I didn't get all the details about the where and when part, but I heard everyone was ok. Anyone else got some info????

I didn't hear about that...You were at the DSM poker run correct?? Was this during the run?

Here's the deal...

New boat owner...Warned by the builder when he took delivery (2 weeks ago) that he would "hurt someone if he didn't learn how to run the boat, and that he should take his time and get used to it"...

Allegedly was running very fast +/-100mph, and ran out of water on a lake, trimmed the drives out (thinking that the water was getting to shallow) and took a very hard turn...Luckily nobody was hurt. The boat landed right side up, then proceeded to sink...

This guy purely needed more seat time...as well as a lesson or two.

I bought my Outerlimits from someone who spun it out 3 times. He claimed the boat was defective!

I have had it for 3yrs - was taught how to drive it by a 37 Outerlimits owner = NO SPIN OUTS

There is nothing wrong with Outerlimits or other stop bottom boats - just uneducated drivers.

If it landed right side up, why did it sink? Did he rip off a drive or just take on that much water in the roll?

For the record: I spoke with the owner Thursday regarding his withdraw from the DSM Poker Run. He told me that he withdrew because it was irresponsible to learn to drive a new boat with such performance capabilities for the first few times with fifty other boats around. This boat would have been the jewel of the show and given him that "Look at my Boat" feeling that we all love. Instead he opted to take his new boat to a small uncrowded lake to practice. I have had a professional involvement with this gentleman from the beginning and know from his past boats that he built up to this one. He also Sea Trialed the boat before with someone from the factory. Maybe he felt that was enough teaching and he could self teach the rest. Professional drivers have done much worse. The most important thing is that the family is all right. The owner told me he bought an Outerlimits due to there safety at speed and his family was worth every penny. This is unfortunate, but I thank God he was responsible enough to not run it in the poker run...Hell, If I bought it, I would have.
