One thing that you need to know is that if you run a boat with catalaytic converters is that if you run out of gas, the catalaytic converters will serverly overheat and become junk and will need to be replaced.

If you own a boat like that and run it out of gas, you should not be boating anyway........

The Top Gun Open was 299K at the Lauderdale Show with 3 outboards (which are cheaper than a pair of big block sterndrive packages).

3 outoards are not cheaper than 2 8.2s, not by a long shot lol

Another 4,000 and you can get a 525/xr's package

No way. $14,000 more(each) might get you 525s, and that's just for the engine. You'd also have to pay for the XR upgrade.

Maybe not for cigarette pricing as an upgrade price, but just the Oem price in the motor packages are only 4-5k difference

I like seeing this type of stock reliable power in a great boat. I do like the old 500 hp. Maybe that will come back. When i look at boats i like the stock power or motors never touched. Big power turns me away as you dont know how they were taken care of and some of these no name engine shops scare me.

I don't know what you mean by "OEM price".

Looks like a 502 HO Catalyst engine can be bought for $17.5k. Please show me where I can buy a new 525 for $21.5k.

These prices are Oem package prices, yes if you bought them separate you would pay 30k for the motor only. Oem is what the manufacturers pay mercury direct

That made it clear as mud. WHAT prices are "OEM prices". If you bought them separate?

I can only assume you are calling manufacturer pricing "OEM pricing" and you are claiming is that a boat manufacturer(like Cigarette) only pays $4,000 more for a 525/XR package than they do a 502HO/X package???

I'd almost be willing to bet that no 2 manufacturers, retailers, rigging shops, mechanics etc ever pay exaclty the same amount for anything from Merc. Depends on what you need nd when you need it, and how valuable you are to them....

which is :bsflag:, but its how business seems to be done. :coolcowboy:
