Yeah but for some reason they aren't any faster than the Merc 700's. Sunsation found this out in their F4, boat does burn less fuel than with 700's.

The Merc's are underrated, they make quite a bit more hp and especially torque. They also eat a lot more fuel!

I'm a big V-10 fan. I would think more would be sold if Merc didn't have such a stronghold on the industry...

Really? I never heard a huge number on that boat. How fast did it run?

The other variable is the no frills/liner cabin. They only built two of those (Shogren built the other one, not sure what power it got or where it ended up). So if the boat is indeed faster than a Merc 700 boat was it because of the engines or the lighter hull? We won't know until another PR cabin Merc 700 boat is dialed in/tested.

I cant speak for Sunsation but the Ilmor's are about 2 mph faster in an Outerlimits and I believe the same in Hustlers.

The 288 had a 625 motor, nothing really to compare that one to except a 525 boat. 100 HP difference would be great in a 28 ft boat but not sure how much faster.

LOL! :) :drink: 563HP gets that thing moving!

I do not remember the exact number on the Ilmor boat but 106 comes to mind. Maybe Chris from Sunsation will chime in.
