New xcat heading for Dubai

I hear new XCAT DW belonging to GB heading for Dubai, same as Hulk but slightly lower . or that`s what i been told . must be fast then .

Ryan Beckley 12-23-2011 09:07 AM

It it totally different than Hulk and it belongs to OMAR.......

2 Trick Rick 12-23-2011 09:13 AM

Is it a 30 or 32ft?

Maritime_Eng 12-23-2011 09:17 AM

30ft.

2 Trick Rick 12-23-2011 09:27 AM

So the decided to run the 2.5/200's than?

It's a 30' and Sharkey got the rights to photograph it from Gary and Omar at the KW Worlds. Sharkey has a full photo spread of the boat on his site.

Ryan Beckley 12-23-2011 09:51 AM

It's is 2.5 powered, for X-cat......

2 Trick Rick 12-23-2011 09:56 AM

I recall talk about the class moving from the 2.5/280's to the 200Xs motors.. figured they went that way as a 30ft boat would seem to be a better choice with the lower horse-power.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 12-23-2011 10:32 AM

That idea went away. The class likes the 2.5's better I guess.

waterboy222 12-23-2011 12:08 PM

I like it!

It does have nice lines . ,30 foot is the way to go , Dubai course is small and Abudhabi course are raced on the flat section of the course .

Originalronza 12-23-2011 01:18 PM

Is this a new dw model?. How does it compare to his 32 and his original 30 amt?

Comment:
It is Omar's and headed to Dubai for the X-Cat Series. The Hulk boat is very tall in the canopy because the owner is a tall guy.

This boat is a 30 low profile.... because the courses in the X-Cat are not as rough as here in the U.S. I do not think the WPPA... has a mandatory long lap anymore. I.E... outside of the break waters. Thus, a smaller boat with a lower profile should be a good prescription for podiums:drink:.

No need to worry it is dog slow and not a threat:cool-smiley-027:!

just curious do you guys just make this sheetz up, or do you actually talk to someone ?

xcat has weight limits based on lenght. the boat, which is a 32 just shortened several inches, allowing it to be classified as a 30 and also allowing it to weigh 200 lbs lighter than normal 32's. it also has the wider tunnel as allowed per xcat rules. and yes the deck is cut down.

have too say DW's are probably the best outboard cat to date. cant remember when another builder has dominated here in the states other than when skaters first came out. plus there is always 1 or 2 running up front in Xcat.

plus Doug is soon to debute a new pleasure 32

heard the same thing. they calculate the weigt based upon the actual running surface not the over all lenth so doug notched the transom even more to shorten the bottom of a 32 to 30 of running surface. boat is out of the 32 mold

Lauderdaleboats 12-23-2011 10:24 PM

The running surface is 4 inches shorter than the 32 by moving forward the notch. The bottom steps at the keels have been turned from a rearward angle to perpindicular to the tunnel which is also 4 inches. So the entire bottom moved forward 4 inches requiring less engine setback.

The hulk has the 32 canopy while Omars boat uses the 38 canopy. Hulk is full carbon, Omar has glass hull and carbon deck.

Ballough has a x cat version in the mold now and another full carbon boat will be in the mold right behind it.

Why don't you give them the CAD drawings...laughing. I never hear squat on what the other teams are doing....wonder why that is!

Do you have any G-2 information on the Fazza, Abu Dhabi Racing team love to hear if they made any changes for 2012. :party-smiley-004:

A new pleasure 32 did you say...hmmmm interesting... a good idea if you ask me:drink:.

I think at the end of last year they built one or were testing one with a wider tunnel. I am sure all Xcat teams will be updating to faster boats soon.

Yes of course they have more mods....you need to squeeze everything you can for that edge in a class with 21+/- boats.

I hear the WPPA is going to provide each team with boxes for the motors so everyone is on the same limiter. Imagine that good idea.

Plus, they need some fresh teams on the podium if it is the same guys over and over it really get's kinda old.

I agree the difference is you never see specs' anywhere on the net from those teams. They keep their mouths shut and put up the numbers on the course.

Then everybody is going WTF how is it they smoked us by a desert mile. That would be my plan if it were my team keep everything on the down low and go out and walk away from the field.

In any event stay tuned for the unveiling of the finest Outboard pleasure boat you have ever seen. Due out early in January 2012 just weeks away.

Merry Christmas & Peace be with You!

Hi , yes i remember it well , we got to the bouy together with Fazza 3 and then the whole race was done in the flat section ,we never came out to the rough after the start as we raced inside the brakewater , anyway i was running 6th and on my last lap we broke down, shaft that holds the butterfly inside the trumpet broke in half and slid out of postition and i could not get it on the revs . GB was running 8th about 15sec behind us.
It`s annoing running these big boats and running most of the races on the flat . GB and us usually have a good 1st couple of laps between us then he catches up and get`s passed us , most of the races he finishers one postition infront sometimes 2 .I guess he will be top 5 with this new boat .
