Please post a link to where you can buy this engine for $5000 less then the three or four other manufacturers selling this package. Originalronza what's the name of the dealer that quoted you an even cheaper price? I'll buy a couple right now. Also, the 460lbs is for the base long block without marine accessories..

In 3 to 6 months as far as major OEM marine engines Mercruiser / Mercury Racing & Ilmor will be the only one's left offering Big Blocks everyone else either has all LS motors or at least one LS motor to replace their big block offering.
The weight as I was told by Indmar was 467 lbs for the base like the pic in the GM performance website as I called it a full long block - the block, intake manifold and heads are aluminum.

Mastercraft has used ILMOR engines exclusively for about a year now. Ilmor offers a non-supercharged 522 horsepower engine with far better internals:

If I recall correctly I think the reason for the cast pistons was all the complaints on the auto side about the piston slap being forged aluminun years ago. After the motor was fully warmed up and the piston expanded from the heat the slap went away on most of them but not all. A cold motor the piston slap was pretty darn loud. Again I think the cast piston took care of the slap but not 100% 4 sure.
