I HAD MR CIG, IN APRIL OF 2000 FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS

Cigaretteman - yes the motors were blown.
It is funny how magazines and / or manufacturesrs test boats and come up with numbers that you can never repeat. I assume that before a boat goes to a published test run, the mfg spends countless hours dialing in the boat - playing with props, x dimension etc. Most tests are done with minimal fuel on board and no miscellaneous equipment. I cannot speak about other revolutions, just the speed of my friends. His motors made their advertised horsepower ( as verified by local riggers dyno ) but I am not sure about their torque. We often ran with a 97, 42 Apache or Commanche with 950's. The two boats were very similiar in speed. Low to mid 80's. It may be possible to have coaxed slightly more speed out of the Revolution by running it trimed all the way out in 3' seas for an extended period. We were always reluctant to do so as something expensive would usually break. For comparrison sake, last week I rode in a friend's 2000, nonstepped 42 Tiger, 1/4 cabin with Richie Zul 900's. Four good size guys, plenty of beer, 1/2 to 3/4 tank of gas, and the Gaffrig read 94mph in 2' to 3' water. The boat was just puchased, used, for 280K It sure is nice to have friends with big, expensive and fast boats!!!!! |
Drama
Sounds like a lot of "Drama" to me. Keep your TG buy a cat and go fast without all that silly "big engine" b.s. C'mon 1800hp and 82mph. If you have to be wound out to go that slow how long will the engines last. Whats cruise 55mph, what a joke. (I don't think i'm on plane yet) Get the paddles out!!! If you want real speed theres only one way to go.
You're going to spend more time working on that tub than enjoying boating with your friends. However, your mechanic will love you. And nobody feed me any of that rough water crap either! Maximus |
Cigaretteman - Look on EBay. They have a 42' with a race set up for sale. Bids started at I beleive 34K. Wardey

I would like to see some tests of the 42 from back when they where still build. Can anyone help me regarding wich magazines tested these boats and when or if there might be any tests on the net.

Boating did a test on one but I don't know the month or year. The copy of it is at our house at LOTO but I won't be there till the 4th of July. If you haven't found it by then, I will look.

I rode in one that belonged to Bubba Jummonville from LA that had twin staggered 1000 SC in it. The boat ran 94 in the bay at the end of the canal from Fort Apache and Cigarette. I had to see it to believe it that's how I got the ride and lost the bet.
