454 Mag V.s 502mpi???

MY QUESTION IS WHICH MOTOR IS BEST SUITED TO REBUILD AND SLIGHTLY MODIFY.. EXISTING MOTORS ARE 454 MAG CARB WITHABOUT 500 HRS ON THEM .. AFTER THIS SEASON WILL HAVE CLOSE TO 700 AND WANT TO REBUILD .. BUT I HAVE AVAILABLE TO ME A PAIR OF 502 MPI MAG MOTORS.. ONE NEEEDS A REBUILD (PRICE IS RIGHT) WHAT KIND OF HORSEPOWER CAN BE MADE FROM BOTH OF THESE WITH RELIABILITY ??WAS HOPING TO MAKE AROUND 475 HP = OR - A LITTLE.. THE BOAT IS A 1991 CIGARRETTE BULLET.. ALSO ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH MRD ON LONG ISLAND .. THEY ARE PRETTY CLOSE TO ME AND I WANT TO STAY LOCAL FOR THE WORK ... SORRY FOR THE LONG POST .. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED...

I'd go with the 502's .... add a roller cam/valve train, intake and carbs ... you'll have an easy and reliable 520+ hp ... that's from a computer geek ... I'm sure the pro's will chime in shortly

either motor would be good for the H.P level you are looking for, if you were after 550 or more though I would go the 502 way, talk to your engine builder and get his opinion on this
