Call back and ask for Steve. Good people. He is the owner and will definately help you with your problems. If the "Dick" answers tell him you want to speak to someone else. Good luck.

I bought a 1998 Velocity a couple of years ago from a dealer in Michigan and have done major updating. I've called Kenny and Steve dozens of times and they couldn't have been more helpful. Everything from selling me new fabric for my interior cheaper than I could find it on the Internet, to prop recommendations, drive height recommendations. You name it, they have been extremely helpful. Based on how they've treated me, I wouldn't think of buying anything else. Of course getting the most mph per hp doesn't hurt either. There's a post on here about a guy who bought his dad's old Velocity race boat and restored it with Steve's help. I have never heard anything but kudo's for Steve and his crew. I'd really like to know what you said to get the reaction you did.
|
I had Velocity work on my Fountain this summer and I couldn't have asked for better customer service. Even after I got my boat back Kenny answered any questions I had day or night. Kenny even went out and tested props with me on his day off and didn't charge me a dime.

I have owned Velocitys for years and you can not ask for better people to deal with,Steve and his family are great people.I am surprised to hear that you were not treated well.
|
Might have caught him on a total chit-ass day!
|
Are we talking about the same people, are you sure you called the right number?

Why don't you tell us a little more as to what kind of questions you asked? Maybe that has something to do with their responces.

Thats to bad because any time ive called nothing but nice conversation from kenny and steve .
Infact if you get steve going he will just keep feeding you info allways good about giving ideas about things to try on boat and if i call and they are busy i always get a prompt call back. Not trying to sound like a cheerleader for them but they have done good by me.:boat: |
Steve has always been great to us

I owned used Velocity's for 20+ years . Steve and Kenny always went out of their way to help and be nice . When stopping in the factory I got a warm reception everytime . Never bought anything from them and was still treated like family . The people at Velocity are great in my book .

with a attitude like you have Steve should have hung up on you , because you aren't worth his or my time . As to the reference to my wife , i will consider the source and over look it , again you aren't worth my time.

excepted , i was just trying to make a point as to how much these boat builders resent anyone trying to copy or in the boat business the word is splash a boat . Steve had this done more then once , hell a Canadian boat builder copied the whole bottom in to their whole line of boats . Most any builder really take offence to some other builder doing this.

A pad is not something that you just "put" on the bottom of a boat. It took Steve years of fine tuning and expertise to get right. If you want to see what a pad bottom boat rides like, come down to Naples and I'll take you on a ride in StillCrazy. Then you can understand how ridiculous of a question you asked, realize that if you want to go fast you should own a Velocity and not try to copy one, then call Steve back up and apologize and beg him to build you one:) Steve, Kim, Kenny and Mike at Velocity are the best. -Jordan |

I absolutely concur that Steve at Velocity is a genuine gentlemen. Whenever I have approached him with questions or information.
I think its important for OSO boaters and others to understand and be sensitive a little to the fact that most boat builders and other vendors in the performance boating industry are a little stressed sometimes in todays boating eniroment just trying to keep their business viable and moving forward. Sometimes a call with questions about proprietery information will garner a short justified response, but it is also sometimes because experts like Steve know its also not reasonable to try to put a pad on a boat that was never initially designed with one. You described the call as a sorts BS session and thats kinda what it ended up -stupid questions can sometimes solicit savory responses. Hope you get your hulls to perform as well as they were designed to do and if not still satisfied I hope you will be a new buyer of a higher performance design hull. Be safe, have fun and enjoy your boating. Best Regards, Ray @ Raylar |
