Lower unit drain bolts?
I saw some lower unit drain bolts, that replace the standard screws, normally used by Mercury on bravo stye units and on my Sportmaster lowers. Who makes these?? I think they are either a bolt head or hex head design, will they fit on my sportmaster lowers on my 300XS? Thanks

Anxiously awaiting a reply to this too.. I stripped out that ridiculously cheap flathead screw. Haven't drilled it out yet because I was hoping for a replacement!

Whats the best way to get one out that has the head stripped on it?

I think Imco has them.

Take a small, sharp punch and a hammer to get it to turn. Berger's at LOTO showed us this trick this past spring.

Anybody know if these work on SSMIII and SSMIV?
At least Merc could have used hardened screw heads. |

I join issue with you there. My view is entirely opposed to yours.

How profound! :lolhit::coolcowboy:
Im gonna give the punch and hammer trick a shot tonight. I hadn't thought of that.. Everytime I think I've replaced everything that had saltwater damage, I find something else. And its always one tiny little screw or something thats killing the entire day of work. |

Thanks Steve, ordered a couple of sets of Imco hex head drain and vent plugs. $8.21 ea not bad, no more stripped screws:)
61 cents for washers. Plus tax. Plus $15.08 for S & H. So 2 screws and washers mailed to me is $32.72. What a f*cking joke. :eek: :eek: :eek: |
Use the right screwdriver in the first place :) :)
I use a hand impact to break them loose BTW, then hand tighten with a wide blade when done... |
Scott B. I agree. Never had a problem.
