External Steering Thoughts??

Hey give me thoughts on External steering. I have just refresh motor in donzi 22zx. should be 550-600 hp. I know i need external steering but my thoughts/money are go with dual ram add-on or full hyd single ram.

We mainly run lakes in Texas nothing crazy majority of time but look for thoughts on safety. Gimbal etc in great shape, but I have been reading add-on stiffens steering and wife drives boat also so will it make to stiff.
I am torn between dual addon then doing full next winter or just doing single ram full.. Give thoughts boat should run top end about 80-85

On that size boat I would opt for the single ram, full system. I ran a single ram full system on the 24 Superboat I had and it was rock solid. I could turn the wheel with 1 finger and it was very precise.

I agree with the single ram, full system. Don't really need two rams at the speeds you are expecting. Full system is generally much more precise than the add-on system.

Knowinf what I know about Donzi boat, with that kind of horepower< i would HIGHLY reccommend dual sterring rams. I have a friend that owns a 22 Donzi pushing over 500 hp and he has dual rams in his boat. Running a single ram puts to much strees on the transom and over a period of time the transon will crack. Even with dual rams, you need blocks installed and glassed over.
