Pitch Your Own Prop with strips.
Came across this, website says 50 Knots plus. Looks like it would just hurt top speed. Add a strip and lose rpm???

It's not as bad as you would think, although I doubt that it would be efficient for high-speed/surfacing applications where it is important for the prop to act like a wing. When an abrupt edge like that is added underwater, the (incompressable) water tends to stall against it and create a ramp effect. Volvo Penta has capitalized on this effect with their vertical trim blades for cruisers.

It's a means to change the cup of the propeller more so than the pitch.
They claim it works, but I was more concerned with the life span of the blade as they mill a slot in it for these strips to go into. I don't see it making the propeller stronger with the milled slot. It is like a whicker bill on the car wings Chuck, they can change them quite quickly in/out of water. |
