In his letter to sponsors, Allweiss claims racer Joey Gratton "perished ... because the sponsors failed to provide adequate protection to the participants ..."

He goes on to request insurance coverage and policy information from the sponsors and asks that they forward the letter to their insurance carriers

Interesting he wants "Insurance coverage and policy information" Tell me that does not mean MONEY $$$$$

Why do I feel this thread is not something to participate in? Could we see an expansion of legal threat to include possible libel accusations and charges to keyboard commandos?

When will Cardshark thread open back up>?

How is it that this lawyer is even allowed to represent in this case when he obviously has issues from the past with the promoter in question? That is what bothers me, if the family wants to sue, that is their choice.

Why do you think tort reform has never been a serious issue unless it was during elections?

I raced for a long time back in the 'safe' days, and built raceboats for a long time back in the 'fatal' days. I can't recall relying on the race sponsor for anything to be responsible for my (our) safety. A race sponsor has little power after the flag drops.
