How would your phantom compare to say a 33 Powerplay(lighter) or a Cafe Racer(heavier) in rough water 3-4 footers. What does the boat weigh? Havent heard alot of feed back on these boats....Long Island Sound(where we boat) can kick up like a washing machine, thats why I ask.

Kev, thay are a great hull, but they dont have a lot of freeboard. They are a sitdown boat, probably closer in weight to the PP.

A phantom is one of the few boats in that size range I would consider but then again I don't care about a cabin and like sit downs

I have never ridden in either the PP or the Cig of that size.

The Phantom is a very good boat at 50-60 mph cruise speed in the Ocean on a day approaching three foot waves, the northern Chesapeake (lots of cruiser-motor yacht wakes) and the Ocean off of AC, it is a very nice riding boat.

I would bet it weighs less than the PP. You would have to call Will Smith at Phantom about the weight.

I have a 2000 38 Activator with 540/750HP that runs 103. It was re-rigged in 07. It was orginally built by the old owner mark from Activator. Everything is new. From blueprinted step bottom to fuel tanks to paint. Has quarter canapies and seats 5. Has trailer. If interested call Pat 201-394-6824

why are you surprised? it takes big power to propel a vee hull to the triple digit mark per your request. bigger power means the owner will (typically) demand more money.

your proposition is two sided...

1. go older with huge power but the hull designs are slow (no steps)
2. go new and more efficient but your dollar number doesnt hold up

have to pick your poison.
