So tell us ..........How did it run? Looks great!

NASTY HABIT 09-08-2002 06:58 PM

got 9 hours on it ...had to yank the port exhaust a couple times battleing an oil leak turned out to be the threads on the flare adapter fitting on the remote oil adpt on the block .....it's fixxed now ......oil temp wasn't up to 212 on the last outing but today I ran it a little harder ....hit 220....perfect...she's already had an oil change ... am i anal or what ?? Looks like it will top out around 65-70 speedo is original 1974 so hard to say where it is...I need to get a new handheld gps..

ended up spinning a 14 x 26 it takes me right to 5000 with a little trim left...i suppose this will be the prop i stick with ...

Today was a great afternoon on the St Johns River ....ran a while stopped by a friends house...bs'd for a while had some lunch ...and ran back down the river....

IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT...

:) :) :) :) :) :)

Beautiful restoration! Get the GPS Speedo!

NASTY HABIT 09-09-2002 07:50 PM

Traviss .....worth every penny and every drop of sweat....hey i just realised i didn't bust any knuckles so the blood loss was minimal on this project...........yep she is SMOKIN !!

thanks Fred... we are all smiles all weekend

where do you mount the antena/reciever or whatever it is on the small gps speedos ?

Kent Perroux 09-09-2002 08:31 PM

Mark, what brand prop are you running? If you are spinning a 26 with low slip, you are doing pretty good. (Exceptionally well)

NASTY HABIT 09-09-2002 09:20 PM

Hey Kent....are you in the water yet..??? it is a Volvo prop....I have a 14 x24 whch i haven't tried yet ...this prop seems to blow out with not much trim...but really haven't run it WOT yet...not sure if the blow -out would be expected at any particular trim setting .....seems like i could trim up further with the previous set-up...but has been a yr since being in the water to....the mind is a terrible thing...and my trim indicator isn't set right yet either....that;s tomm nights job....

Kent Perroux 09-11-2002 10:25 PM

Mark,

I did not have much luck with the Volvo props. Not much bite and too much slip. Would also blow out too easy; could not get the bow up much. You might take it to the the prop guy and get him to cup it some or If you can get ahold to a Merc Chopper you can have a volvo hub put in.

Boat is ALMOST complete. I will be cranking her up either this or next weekend.

Then I can start on m next project...
