I would be at the dealer on monday morning & get all the ppwk in hand & handle the title transfer myself. If no joy then time for an attorney

Thanks for the responses...yes I think it is a trip up in person today to attempt to pick up paper work and the dmv fees I already paid or lawyers and state attorney generals on Monday. Enough BS, they are stalling for time.

Another question, I paid with a bank check(home equity loan) not a traditional boat loan and I signed over title to my old boat...did this screw me?

I went thru the same thing years ago a little before National Marine went under.
I called them a few times and kept getting the BS run around story. Finally I threatened them with I was getting a attorney and they sent it over. Im just glad it was before they went under.

Act quickly. Your boat is almost surely floorplanned and the dealers poor cash position means that he will only pay it off as a last resort. Depending on your dealers financial position, you may need a lawyer because the finance company holds the title until the lien is satisfied. It sounds like the dealer could default at any time and then your only hope is that the lien holder would release the title to you and seek to recover the funds from the dealer. Good luck.

Was your boat that you traded paid for or were they supposed to settle the note on that?
Could be the second part to your (potential) dilemma.
1. You could potentially still own and be responsible for your old boat.
2. Your new boat could potentially be owned by someone else.

There is a slim chance there could be a reasonable and legitimate explanation here but if there was they would have offered that detail already.

Get a lawyer either way and triple check both transactions are right.
