I'm guessing that Mercury is targeting Ilmor's 650/725 engines...

Chuck

Does Ilmor still produce the 570, or is it out because of being a gen III? What I'm thinking is along the lines of what MH42 is saying about the 525. I would think they would target the 570. And thsy will defintely go for a CE certified motor, which the 525 is not. My guess is a 575 hp N/A motor and in a short while the 600 and 700 will be replaced with something else. It'll surely be interesting to see what they come up with.

I've wondered why they haven't taken a QC4V,
take off the hair dryers and bump up the comression.

That makes a lot of sense also. Was also thinking that one.

Also the 525 is getting old, but it still sells. Hope if it does get replaced the price stays the same. We need some entry level BLUE motors!

I would guess that if they did a "low" power 575-625 hp DOCH N/A v-8, it would probably be rather expensive for the power. We are talking Merc Racing here, nothing is cheap.

Formula's Facebook page hints that they may have something special in a FX8 (400 SuperSport) in Miami. There is a shot of a boat in the test tank with single-prop Bravos and ITS boxes. Most Mercury packages in that boat use Bravo Threes.
