legend marine group a JOKE?

OK, I am in the market for a 35 fountain! I have been watch one on here for several months. I don't really understand tactics of boat dealers. I have several boats for sale NOW and NO first hand this is a BAD market to sell anything let alone a go fast boat that is no long in business!

I have been following this boat for several months and have noticed the price from 65k over the winter to 69k last week to now 67k on there website. They list it as a smokin deal! here is the link:

http://www.legendmarinegroup.com/web...ition_id=10426

I am concerned for several reasons. Not sure why someone would keep raising the price to a boat that has been for sale for almost a year. The boat has been listed on OSO since march last year! SO, I called the dealer yesterday to ask them what is the deal with the boat. What is the true price and why would you raise it? I realize they are going into spring buying time but damn been on the market for a year and cant sell and now what you want to recoup your losses??? The sales guy told me they have more cost in the boat since they have held it this long! REALLY, HUMMM. sounds like you take the loss and move on!. Funny thing is I am a CASH buyer that needs to find something soon to save the tax dollars on the boat I sold! HE PROMISED TO GET BACK WITH ME ON MAINTENANCE LOGS AND COMPUTER info on motors.

You would have thought I was asking for his check book for this kind of info! Anyways, I have not even been contacted. Guess I need to find another boat! Just wasnt sure if this dealer is worthy? Has anyone else had any other issues with this dealer?

Legend Marine is a great group of people !!!!!! Known them for a while. Bought a Baja from them about a year ago with no problems. I think it's still called negotation.

Legend Marine = Very Worthy

Common practice, even when the market was good, for boats to be reduced in price during the winter months and raised back up as spring approaches. I am never offended by a asking price. Shoot them a deal.

CLA 01-31-2012 10:22 AM

Casey is good people at Legend. Give him a call and I bet you can work a deal on that boat.

jcl 01-31-2012 10:37 AM

Give Casey a call. If you are a serious buyer the difference in 65k and 69k will be no big deal. Make a serious cash offer and im sure will have a new fountain for the summer!

Some states Nortie give you a break on sales taxes if you sell and then buy within a certain amount of days. Here oin VT it's 90 days.

So if I sell a boat $100k and buy another $150k within the 90 days you get credit for the $100k you sold the other one.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! That is interesting. I have not heard of that before!

That's a nice deal. Wish TX did this.

Go thru the boat and if it's OK go in with $55K :D

I had a 35 Fountain from Legend Marine 2010.

I gave them a offer just because I did't want a boat at that time... :D and then I had a great boat. ....

Straight flyin guys for sure :)

Good luck!

Legend and casey

I've been working with CASEY for many years and I wish that every boat sales person had his integrity.

WOW, thanks guys for the replies. I just might consider calling them back! This seems like a very nice boat! But, I still have no return phone call or emails! Some things that make you go HUMMMM!

They may have misplaced your contact information? I'd give them the benefit of the doubt if I were truly interested in the boat.... Good luck!

Yea, with all the tire kickers it's hard for the dealers to figure out who is really ready to buy.

TexomaPowerboater 01-31-2012 12:51 PM

No sympathy here. My price will go up for summer prices as well. If I did a lot of work to it I'd raise the price even more.

Not sure I would reply back either after you started this thread. :party-smiley-004:

Casey is good people for sure. He is on the board but I can't remember what his username is. Give him a call if you are interested in the boat.

rchevelle71 01-31-2012 01:17 PM

Seems like a nice boat, you say it was 65, then 69, now 67, so technically they raised it a bunch, then lowerd it a little. I would not worry about the asking price too much, just what you are willing to pay for it.

LMAO !!!
I've always found it harder to save the coin.

Although I've never interacted with the seller in question I've heard good things from friends that have.

One suggestion I may offer is that if you can get there in person you would be well served.
I bought my boat last year, sight unseen, based on pic's from e-mails, a Team Merc marina's powertrain's/SC's/outdrive's survey, and a marine surveyors survey and seatrial. I MUST SAY it was the worst inner feelings I've ever had having to completely rely on another man's input on a purchase I never laid eyes on.
All in all it worked out good as the surveyor noted something completely nondisclosed by the seller, and assisted me in knocking my purchase price down significantly. But I had already dropped quite a bit of money for the multiple surveys and would have been super pissed and filed suit for his hiding an issue if he didn't drop the price for the value of the repair.
We had a contract in which he stated "no known mechanical and structural issues" and he knew about them even though he didn't disclose it.

Good luck, I hope you get the boat of your dreams at the price your wishing to pay.
Remember, it ain't about the asking price, it's all about the agreed sales price.

See ya,
Kelly

You are looking at it wrong.
They didn't raise the price last week, they lowered the price during the winter slow season. Now that the boat buying season is gearing up, the price is back to the value. :party-smiley-004:

Texas does do this if you purchase from a dealer.
You'll only pay sales tax on the money above and beyond the value of your trade in.
I haven't offered a trade in on the past 5 years of work truck purchases but I'd doubt if they've changed the sales tax laws except for perhaps raising them.

See ya,
Kelly

Yea, I know on a trade. I always buy/sell myself without dealers or brokers.
