2000 zx22 with 454 mag. Want to step up to something bigger down the road but this small boat is so much fun. Looking at doing a -2 shorty in the near future

Awesome boat, mine is a 2002 with a 496HO and Bravo III & duo lower. Getting ready to try a -2 Imco.

That's sweet. I always thought the few that were made in the early 2000's were cool. What are you running speed wise with the Bravo III? I was getting around 80 mph with 550 HP and a a full length bravo X. I would expect to be into the low to mid 90's with the new setup.

Honestly do not have much time in the boat. Still learning to drive it as it also has 380 tabs on it. Seems to like to run flat similar to a Gladiator at cruise speeds although have spoken to a few people that have much more experience than I in similar boats and they say based on what I describe to them they seem to think the boat seems confused. Meaning as you attempt to trim the boat with the drive to lift the bow the duo prop creates stern lift creating the "confusion". Hope to have more time to learn the boat this coming season. Previous owner stated they had seen mid to upper 70s. This boat along with the other 2000 plus boats have a pad bottom.

I’d have to agree with the confused feeling. My boat feels great at cruise speeds up to 70 but beyond it the tabs are needed. Once the tabs are down just a touch the boat will run wide open for miles wi the out issues. I don’t trim my boat much at all. It runs pretty flat even at wide open. It likes to chime walk at high speeds if I give it a lot of trim. With this being said my boat may react much different than yours because you have a pad bottom. I’ve heard that the boats get a little unhappy the closer you get to 80 then they settle back down above 85.
