I didn't see you when we pulled back in to Newport Harbor .... was everything OK ... I know it was a little rough ... I had to keep it under 3500 rpm because I had Jim's wife with me and she CAN NOT handle any air time ... plus we wanted to run with Jim while he tried to trim Rick32's boat in the rough.

Looks like Rick and his passenger are going to be fine ... a little un-nerving.

Hey G, that situation on Saturday did not sound good at all...Whats the update?? Is the girl ok? I heard broken back in 2 parts? was that correct? How bad is the boat?

Rick's boat is fine except for a broken cabin hatch and the cabin was a little rearranged. I'm not sure of the passengers injuries, but she was supposed to be released after a couple of days(not serious). Rick is doing fine, he's got a little hurt in the hip.

Hey Air Gair, sorry the wife was such a bundle of nerves, she just get's scared when the boat comes out of the water, she's a bit of a freak, she seems to do fine with it when she is driving though, any way sorry if she was a pain in the ass.

Jimbo ... she was fine. I can only imagine how she felt after hanging around the scene and then heading into big water ... she's a trooper.

I'm sure Rick will have a special thanks for you, taking care of his boat and getting it back to port safely.

Air Gair!!!! We made it back on Sat alright, but damn I took a salt shower on the way!! I was going pretty slow, just barely on plane trying to keep it smooth through the swells, but everytime we hit one a bunch of water came over at us. About 3/4 of the way back I went a little faster and was able to get on top of things and had a better ride...I don't know if the ride was better because the water got smoother or because I was going faster. I'm still learning the best way to get through this stuff, but am having fun doing it.

Thanks to Cigarette1, Douggie, Jimbo, Jeffrey, and everyone else for letting us tag along with you guys. We had fun and want to do it again!! We'll be sending in our SCOPE membership app soon...

It's good to hear things are OK with Rick32.. We didn't meet him, but I recognized the boat when I saw it.

Bada-bing!!! I don't know all of the details but I'm sure you are invited too! I'll find out more and pass it along.

I am sorry I did'nt wait up for you guys, that water was pretty nasty that day and I was just trying to concentrate on driving Rick's boat back...I did'nt have the heart to tell him I did'nt have much experience driving a twin screw, but according to Jeff and Gary I did pretty good and the boat got back to Lido just fine:D

For Yard House runs you might want to launch out of H.B. instead of Newport, the wife probably hates the rough like mine:D

Hell yes, we want some of that. Laurie and I were just talking about making a trip out Friday the 5th & 6th to look at some boats. We were planning a BBQ at C2's (Craig B) home in Riverside. We are going to need a break, her family is all staying at our home due to the fire up north (ShowLow, AZ). I have four tickets to the D-Backs & San Fran, but I could give them up to her family so we could get away. Her and I will discuss it more, due to a 5 hour drive for two days.
So I get it, your moved into the new place and out boating again?

No worries about Sat. We wouldn't want you to wait up for us anyways... You seemed to be doing fine with Rick's boat as far as we could tell, is it normal to jump the boat 3-5' out of the water like that when you have twins???:D :D :D

We've made about 4-5 trips out in the ocean with this boat, and that was the only one where we really got wet during the ride. I think that I might have been going too slow and plowing through the swells instead of driving on top of them.....I guess I need to go to the Yardhouse again to practice.

Anyways, we're going to be at Lake Powell for a week starting this weekend, but will be up for another Yardhouse run after that.

Goin to Lake Powell, you missed the SCOPE trip by a week...your goin and their comin back, I hear that is one of the greatest trips to go on...maybe next year:cool:

I didn't realize that the AHBA group was going to be there at the same time....My family goes there every year for a week over July 4..We'll be getting there on Sun sometime and will stay all week, probably somewhere around Padre Bay. I have the 29 Shockwave pictured above, plus we will have a 30 Sleekcraft, 27 Hallett, 24 Hallett, 26 Howard Cat, 25 Caliber1, and others with us.

Maybe next year we can coordinate it so that we meet up with either the SCOPE or the AHBA group(s)..

Card stops

You don't have to hang around with the group, looks to be about 20 or so. Just find out when and where the card stops are, that will get you involved, very very informal. Each night they camp some where on the lake and randomly pick a card. Its just for fun.
ps. I had a friend go up fishing last week and said the water level is low, but there is still plenty of it. Have a great trip, this will be my second year missing this trip:(

The big 34 Offshore is going offshore for the SCOPE Poker Run. I've downloaded the pdf application and will be sending it in soon.

I will also be at Catalina for the Ski Race. Cig1, we'll hook up soon and you can give me all the fine pointers for "rockin the dock's " and makin sure it flys straight and level.

Art ... sounds good ... you are really going to like the ocean. August is going to be a very happening month for us SoCal coast runners. We've got a POPBRA race, the Catalina Ski Race and the SCOPE Poker Run. I think you should just bring your boat out at the begining of the month and leave it here for a few weeks. If you happen to be out here before then, look me up. I'll give you the Grand Tour of our romping grounds
