Worlds’ Largest Poker Run Expecting Full House in Georgia, Again!
Boaters of all kinds expected to help raise funds for Children’s Charities

Lake Lanier Island, GA - - Last year, the Lanier Harbor Marina Poker Run topped off at over 300 entries, and by the looks of it, this year’s event, billed as the Worlds’ Largest Poker Run, will be a Full House again. With over 100 boats already preregistered, the event draws boaters from across the United States who will come to compete in the waters of Lake Lanier for the chance to win cash and prizes estimated at over $250,000.00.

"It’s going to be another Full House," said Barkley Geib, owner of Lanier Harbor Marina, and organizer for the event, who has spent much of this year traveling across the country promoting the Poker Run, as an official Paceboat of the American Power Boat Association (APBA) Offshore National Pro Series Racing Circuit. The Poker Run, in it’s 9th year, is slated for August 8th - 10th, 2002 and will include a number of activities for the entire family, all geared to promote safe, family boating in Georgia.

Participant entry for the weekend is only $150.00 and includes souvenirs, 2 T-shirts, and 2 tickets to both the Friday Night Casino Party as well as the Saturday Evening Awards Banquet held at the Emerald Point Resort Amphitheater. "Our "Las Vegas Style" Casino Night Party is new this year, to benefit the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Greater Atlanta and North Georgia, as well as the Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center, and you don’t have to be in the Poker Run to attend. The Poker Run will be held on Saturday, and we have three categories of entry, from Pontoons, to Go Fast Boats, to Cruisers, so there is something for everyone and speed has nothing to do with winning. Most importantly, it’s for a great cause," said Geib, who counts on hundreds of local volunteers for support. The event will also include a Boat Show with displays and vendor booths all weekend long.

Entry, Ticket and Vendor Information is now available by calling the Lanier Harbor Marina at 770-945-2884 or visiting www.pokerrun.com on-line, where all information and entry forms are available.

For Special Room Rates at Emerald Point Resort, call 1.800.768.LAKE or visiting their website at www.lakelanierislands.com.

The Lanier Harbor Marina Poker Run 2002 is presented by Formula Powerboats, Tal Marine, Billy Howell FORD, Vespa Atlanta, Mercury Marine, Yamaha Watercraft, Prestige Trailers, Alpine, Lakeside Pharmacy and Oldies Lake 102. For all event information and updates, stay tuned to www.pokerrun.com & www.GetTheEdgeRacing.com or follow the future posts on Offshore Only.

Thumbs up

Lake Lanier is 40,000 acre fresh water lake just 35 miles north of Atlanta, Ga. It is about 60 miles long with 750 miles of shoreline.

Have you ever decided which day you are going to be doing the charity rides. When you figure it out, let me know so that I can plan accordingly. BTW I still have yet to register, so I better get off my ass and things done. See you soon.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to get buy this week to register. I'm still trying to figure out which boat to use SeaRay/APACHE . I s the good Doc still planning on bringing up his Cig for rides also? That would be pretty cool to have both boats running around the lake together, hey maybe we could get the folks over at TAL to join and have three hot rods running around the lake. That should annoy the residents of the lake preety good . Sounds like it's going to be FUN Savanah, I'll see you soon.
