can anyone recommend a competent marine engine builder. need my 454 gen six rebuilt.

Richie Zul... Hes right in Long Island and has a fantastic reputation. Been building engines for years. Best in the area.

There is a few good builders in your area as mentioned. Keep in mind though, a bit of traveling might not be a bad deal, when it comes to finding a builder that works just right for you and what you want. It's a lot of money, don't let a little drive scare you off. Eddie Young was suggested and he probabley has one of the best reps here on OSO when it comes to reliabillity and personal service.

Zul, a great engine builder with a sparkling reputation!

JC built this engine for me in 2007. 220 hrs later, in 2010 when I rebuilt it on my own, everything was in great shape. It was dynoed at Zul's.

Young Performance 950's in 2005 with 298 hours just rebuilt them for 39 Rockit. No problems!

Yes, there are great builders all over the country, but there is something to be said about being able to drive 30 minutes to his shop.

Lots of good things to be said about him as well.
