prop locks??
I had my screws "labbed" after i stored my boat last year and they look REALLY nice, Im looking for some nice prop locks for a stock bravo1 drive, anyone know where i can get a set..these are really cheap insurance!

Not really insurance. You just use another lock or a size larger socket to take them off. Then you can never seem to find the key when you need it. That's how I learned to get mine off the other ways. If you are scared the take them with you when you leave.

well, my boat sits in the driveway but i know how easy it it to take them off. I would hope there are no two locks alike? Thats the whole idea isn't it?? Im looking at the mcguard brand that has the "spinning" colar that need the "key" to be installed to get it off.

I have the McGards since the boat sits on a lift with the drives/props right there in open view on the walkway.
Have had to remove one when key was lost. A simple dremel with a cut off wheel to slice thru most of the collar, chisel to split it the rest way off, then and a socket tapped on with a hammer unscrewed the lock right off. Probably removed in a couple minutes at most. Not thief proof, just a deterrent for those looking for a fast grab and run. I have pics of mine installed, so if nothing else, I can show the Ins co I made an effort to secure them. |

The Bblades prop locks look like a nice bit of kit.

Holy crap, that's the ticket. Been using Mcgard had problems with key slots rounding caming out, they wouldn't stand behind their product.
Calling bblades, very cool design. |

yes, im sure they can be taken off without the key, they are a good deterrent, a thief isn't gonna sit out in the driveway and work on getting this thing off... The bblades lock looks impressive, i'll check it out, looks expensive. Im curious how it looks sticking out past the hub and what are the effects of water coming off of it.....drag..etc??? maybe nothing?

Mcguards! Junk!
They work fine to keep the honest people honest! They can be turned off with a screwdriver! Done it three times. Used to have the McGuard Drive locks as well. Once down in Havasu needed to pull a drive and did not have the locks, were in my truck and took a different one down. Went to the shelf, picked up a lock out of the package and went and removed the nuts! I just got off the phone with Brett @ BBlades, having a pair of these shipped with my props coming back! Look a lot better design then the Mcgaurds! We will see :) |

All the locks are like previously stated, good enough to keep the honest people honest.
I had a Baja that I made the mistake of putting in storage a few years back. I had the drive locks on it, prop lock on it, and it was parked right next to the marina office under a light. Someone decided it was just easier to take everything, bell housing, trim rams, drive, prop, all at one shot. |
