That's pretty cool.

I have seen the movie "Clambake" and remember seeing that now.

Please do post any photos you may have of the stadium from back in the day. After all, that's what makes a great forum, sharing info and pics.

Thanks;

The engineering reports are interesting, that concrete girl needs some $$ but can have a very long useful life still, The techniques for protective sealants coatings, decontamination, are being improved everyday so who knows how long, There was a old guy in the neighborhood who was a carpenter foreman or lead man on that job (union) fascinating stories on the formwork they did there, this before they pumped concrete it was all placed by crane.

The Orange Bowl regatta was held there after it moved from Pelican Harbor Yacht Club. The 9 hour enduros were held there with the SK class boats.

Bob Nordskog, owner of Powerboat Magazine bought a Rayson Craft SK style boat, modified it with a beak that Reggie would invent 20 years later and called it Viking Spirit.....he then drove the boat alone for the whole 9 hours and won the race.

Everybody was cool that raced there, top of the world.....then someone drove in with an .....Offshore Race Boat....and the game was changed forever.

Here is where it became a bit more challenging.

I took one step on this platform and began to fall through the wood...

I was so set on getting images from the scoring clubhouse that I was not going to let some rotted wood keep me from doing so...
So I shuffled along the metal framing to get myself out to it. Of course not thinking what was supporting the rest of it....
