Leak Proof Trim Caps?

Anybody know where you can buy them?
They use to be on here, but I don't see them anymore...???
Any info. would be greatly appreciated...

HiPerf2000 06-24-2002 12:14 PM

I was looking for them too. I emailed OSO about them asking what happened..why they don't sell them anymore? They responded by saying that the costs became too high to justify them. He said he was travling and would get back to me with the manufacturers phone number when he got home.

Sydwayz 06-24-2002 12:14 PM

I have two, and guess what, they both leak.

Tbonepmp 06-24-2002 12:18 PM

HMMMmmmm...

They still leak!!!!!!!!
Well maybe I should just forget about it and buy the regular ones then...???

bajadude 06-24-2002 12:19 PM

I bought a pair from Teague;

colors: chrome red, chrome blue, chrome purple, polished chrome, blue plastic.
Part Number:
TSCENJ-920

I think they were around $10 a piece.

SeaDated 06-24-2002 12:38 PM

I have four of them and they do NOT leak. They are great. I rate them a 10.

Tbonepmp 06-24-2002 12:51 PM

Have you checked the mounting bolt for the tank? I put a tank together once and it started puking even before I installed it (I bench tested the unit). Turned out the gasket got pinched and wasn't sealing.

jawbreakerkid 06-24-2002 01:35 PM

Tbone- you really need a female in your life. :p is the port side still leaking?

ssherman 06-24-2002 02:19 PM

dude t-bone is leaking out both sides.

Vyper340 06-24-2002 04:44 PM

I agree with the others. I have 4 of them and they don't leak at all.

hammereab 06-25-2002 05:42 PM

Does anyone know if you can use these caps on a Bravo drive fluid resevoir? The cap I have now seems to fit good and tight but leaks.:(

bajadude 06-25-2002 05:46 PM

yup

ccarloss 06-25-2002 06:05 PM

I am glad I saw this post. I have been having a terrible time with my cap leaking. Just ordered one. Thanks

AttitudeAdjusta 06-25-2002 06:32 PM

I bought a pair for my drive oil resevoir's , but they only fit the trim resevoir's. I had to buy a pair of oem for my drive oil, I hope they solve the leak problem.

26sonic 06-25-2002 06:37 PM

cp performance sells them , reg. colors $7.95, custom colors $14.95.

Lyall Turbosonics Caps

I bought the caps amonth ago. Orderd the chrome red ones, three of them at 14 bucks apiece. Just took my boat in some sloppy water last weekend and all three leaked. I am majorly pissed.

To their defense they do send you a note telling you what else you can do to keep the pumps from leaking. I didnt do any thing besides put the new caps on. So maybe the caps werent leaking in the first place.

Good luck,

Ron

I had a leaky one out of four I have, and Lu took a look and it didn't have the rubber O-ring on it. I never noticed that the ring wasn't there, and I think he said that he had a problem of some shipping out without the O-ring. I sent him and email to address this thread.....hopefully he'll respond....if not, he's just the poodle that we know him to be.

IF they leak call me the manufacturer!

I have noticed that some of you clam our trim pump caps leak. Please check for these two reasons.

1. Make sure the o-ring is in the cap , between the thread area at the top of the cap. It is black and you can see it once you remove the cap.

2. For a period of time (were not sure how long) Mercury drilled a small hole in the threads on the white plastic tank where the cap threads on to get the unit to vent. This will cause a leak.

Please call us at 949-713-7051and we will fax you a Product Information Bulletin on how to handle it.

sort of... :D

Honestly, the caps work just as good as the lyall caps, but are machined from billet not plastic...that is the difference in price.

Both are great caps!
