Rob,

Glad to hear that everyone is okay. I've just got to believe Fountain has made quite a few "settlements" because of this piss poor design...

I hope your friend can get restitution in a quick manner

Ancored off the bow, That's what I asked him too. He asked me if anyone got any pictures of this happening? He's checked out this thread, and appreciates all the concerns, and comments from everyone.

We might have some pictures, but I don't think they'll show too much. We were trying to take one because we couldn't believe someone would try to run at planing (or trying to plane) speeds with people on the bow. That's when we saw the sherriff's boat running out to them. And then all of the salvage boats. There must have been some competition over which company was going to tow it for the salvage claim. I can let you know at the end of the week about the pictures...

Thanks Bill, let me know. I could just imagine the salvage guys were like vultures, and basicly trying to peck each others eyes out to get to him first!

Rob, I just talked to Bill. I don't think we took pictures. I know he was looking thru the camera viewfinder (telephoto) because we didn't have the binoculars on board. He was going to snap a shot, but the Fountain passed behind another boat, then the sheriff intercepted.

Did your friend radio anyone? I'm willing to tell anyone what I saw (the people riding on the bow, the stern very low in the water, the boat going slow, the water conditions, etc). Unfortunately, we didn't put the bow-riding and the rescue together until yesterday.

I can only imagine what he and the others on the boat were thinking at the time. I hope things work out for him.

Time will tell, his insurance company is being cool so far, and I've gotten advice from people on the board, about how to handle alot of this if things go south with the insurance company. besides the water damage, there's not anything wrong with the boat, well, besides the scratch the salvage company did while racing to beat the other salvage boat to the scene. That's the kick in the ass about it, It was not an emergency, tons of boats around, everyone was off the boat, and the salvage guys race up and drive right into it with no concern. That's got my fire lit a bit if you cant tell... and I've heard alot of people say the same kind of thing about towboats lack of concern for your pride and joy. Whatever it's just a paycheck to them, scratch or no scratch. It's not really a bad scratch or anything, but it's the point. They could have not done that just as easily.
