Default Which Distributor should i go with?

What kind of distributor are you using? I understand that MSD is the top dog but are there any other alternatives? I have a Chevy 502 and it has a MSD on it but will not work. We switched it out with a regular chevy distributor and it works just fine. I looked at the manufacture date code on my MSD and it says that it was made in 1994. That seems pretty old to me. Should i send it to them to have it repaired or should i buy new?

I am basically looking for options, so what do you have for me?

Mallory is pretty good. I had both engines in my Roamer switched over to Mallory's when i had it. Rock solid, easy to get parts for and easy to mod.

It is the MSD with the Rev limiter box and ignition control box. It also has the coil.

i know the msd box does not last forever, but it is the most common for a reason,i would get a new box,and a new coil, then you will be good to go for a long time.

Use a mercury ignition like thunderbolt or what they use for 500HP's.

The MSD i took out of the motor had a Bronze gear at the bottom. If i went with the DUI would i have to switch it out?

Yes ! They can send you one with a bronze gear . They are easy to work with ... and a quick turnaround . The limiters cost extra ... standard marine unit cost around $318 . All you have to connect is a tach wire and a power lead .
I got tired of having to carry a spare msd box on the boat .
