Insurance?????
Soi called my ALlstate guy that i have EVERYTHING with. they are always super nice. BUT the quote i got for a Baja 342 was RETARDED $1450 a year.
boat us---$1500 Progresive---$1498 geiko, $650...... anyoe else have good luck with gieko? |
$1450 is not THAT bad.
Were all of the policies apples to apples comparisons on coverage? Call your Allstate guy back and have him work it a bit. Use the Geico quote to work him down if you can. If you have a Personal Liability Umbrella Policy, he may have been configuring the boat policy so it fits under that coverage as well. Third party quotes may not have had that done as such. There is way more to insurance than the price of the premium. |
Try Wake Zone Insurance. I am very happy with the rate they gave me for my first cat.
|
Hmm, does sound high. I think I paid Progressive around $1K/yr for my '02 PQ 340 with HO's; through World Wide Marine. That was with agreed value too.
What year boat and what motors? |
It does not sound bad or far off the mark. You may be able to save a another $200/250 depending on a couple of factors. But it's in the ball park.

its a a 2002 Baja 342, with 496 mags.
|
$1100 a year with a 01- 42' Fountain with 575s. Farmers Insurance.
|
What was your insured value on the boat? Trailer? What are your deductibles? Do you have a PLUP and if so, what minimum coverages does it require on the boat policy?
|
60 on boat, 5 on trailer.
|
............or Sy at Total Dollar.
|
Stacy at Wakezone has been great to work with.
|
When I switched from Allstate to GEICO my premium dropped ~40%. AND it included raising the liability, trailer value and agreed value on the boat. My GEICO policy is underwritten by Seaworthy...

yes the gieko quote was seaworthy. are they a big name?
|
I had allstate for years, last 3 renewals have all had increases, this year I'm switching just got my quote back saving over 100 bucks and saving 50 bucks if i add my trailer which i never had before, allstate have everything,, house~boat my last 7 renewals have had increases, ZERO claims, bye mid summer I will have everything pulled from them
|
You can't compare what others have to what you are offered. Millions of variables. Shop around, get a couple quotes with simiilarl coverage.
I also recommend Stacey with Wakezone. |
It's apples and oranges and if you will look at your policy closely I would bet you have a couple big differences between the policies. Also I don't know anyone who has had a claim but paying your premium is one thing and getting them to pay you when there is a problem is another all together. READ THE FINE PRINT!
I have read policies that "don't have wind coverage" Hurrican I get but what about a tornado or thunderstorm knocking down a tree.. you would be screwed... What about uninsured boater, etc... Like others have said there are a million factors. Call Sy at Total Dollar or another carrier that does performance boats! |
