2 ropes + manta ray + 60mph = bad day.

Was fun as hell and didn't touch the water for 3 miles but suddenly got a cross wind... NO GOOD.. Nothing broken but I think I lost consciousness for a few seconds.

I did 42 mph on a Kite Tube (same as manta ray) into a 25 mph head wind........i was looking straight down at the boat on a 45' rope.......then came the cross wind.....slamed me down, forgot to let go, rode it all the way up again, it flipped and slammed me against the water....ruptured ear drum on impact and thought I lost an eye too.......That inner ear pain was more painful than my kidney stone.

Fast in a straight line is one thing....those kite tubes were such a smooth ride but oweeeee when they flip and slam.

I have pulled a tube up to 55-60 or so for short bursts on flat water......the roost always stings......haha

over 50 seems to rip the ski vest clean off when you wipe out. my buddie lost a high dollar watch also. all metal. ripped it right off. i once had a rope break tubing in four footers :angry-smiley-038:and give me a fat lip. so i tied a knot in it and it broke again and the knot hit me in the fat lip. that was it...im done...

I think i read that pokerrun is supposed to get pulled behind the 388slw. Looks like well find out if this happes and end up finding out what the human boddy can endure if they truly put him back there.:lolhit:

My sister got inbetween to pretty husky guys on that tube and it turned into a full rescue mission and got scary. Their was no alcohol involved thank god but somehow when they flew into hte air and came crushing down on her. Shes about 110 and the other guys averaged 180. She got knocked in the head and if it wasnt for life jackets we probably wouldnt of found her. Before you knew it there were about 20 people swimming towards her as she was just face down in the water and not moving. We flipped her over and got her on shore asap and she stared to come to when we got her on land. We almost called coast gaurd and fdle to help us get her out of their but was coherebt enouugh for us to put her on mmy boat and i blew back to the ramp avoiding no wakes and other mariner rules but i was willing to take the risk. We already had friends at the ramp who rushed her to the hospital and it turned out she got a pretty serious cocussion and if it wasnt for the life jacket it may not have turned out so well. Just please always wear a life jacket on any tube or tow behind device. It can and will save your life

Kite Tubes Rock! But hurt like HE**. I read somewhere states are acutally banning using them and selling them. So many deaths in one year or something.

Back in the day we would run down a stretch of beach on lk mi near Ludington towing a buddy on a slalom ski with my sand rail. Probley doing 50. Even with 3 ski ropes he could see the bottom. No injuries and it looked cool as chit... but we gave it up.

Ahh, to be young and fearless...... I got flung off a tube once @ about 50 mph and hyper-extended my right elbow, no fun. Be careful, water takes on the density of a solid at ~ 50 MPH, I believe.
