LED Music Controllers
Trying to find a controller for LED strip lites that will flash my LEDS to music. Prefer the controllers that use an AV input vs the mic.
Problem I'm running into is that all I can find is that they all are for RGB strip lights, not the single color strip. The single lites are a simple 12vdc. Looking for quality unit that actually flashes, not just flickers like the cheaper controllers. Do they make them for single color? Or possibly just classified as 12vdc output? The girls want lites to beat with the music. Who am I do disagree? |

Even though thats RGB, try that website. They have alot of nice stuff that may work. |
i installed one of the cheapo ones from Amazon and it works great, i was going to say you can hook up a single color strip to that controller and it would work but as I write this I realized you would only have light 1/3 of the time.
here they are in action http://youtu.be/lTyHufLVIfE |
Pretty cool, is there a way to tie them into the transom LED's?
|
Wonder if you could just jump the 3 terminals together? As long as the voltage is 12v out each circuit, not sure it would be a problem. Or divide your led strips into 3 different circuits?
|
I went with the RGB Million color with Ozium controller. Also did the transom, all the speakers and cup holders. It does have a music interface and remote controller and YES the women do love it.:evilb: here is a like to the video.

Where have you guys found the purple LEDs? I've been looking everywhere for them and have had no luck.
|
because purple is generated by a combination of red and blue, you need RGB lights and then you can get purple.

try this guy
http://www.ebay.com/sch/tubelight/m.html I bought his stuff for under the counter and under the cabinet lights in my kitchen. Has many colors, and you can buy a music controller for them. Comes with remote control and transformer. The strips are about 1/2 or so wide and less than 1/4" thick. Takes a couple week s to get from China, but worth the wait. The guy answers all emails promptly. I bought three strips premade to the length I wanted, three transformers, and three remotes (1 can control them all), all for around 100 bucks. |

PSTORTI is correct. I can generate just about any color I want with the RGB's and the remote. They are awesome. I had mine installed from a guy named john in paducah kentucky. I'm sure he will chime in on this thread he is amazing with what he can do with these lights.

jumping the three together might work, worst case you burn out a $30 controller, why don't you want to have RGB?

Thanks for the comments Matt and Shay.
The RGB controller I used in Therapy Sessions boat has an aux input instead of a mic. Yes, it's RGB, but you could still use it, just set the color to stay on red, or whichever color you prefer. Its the million color controller from Oznium. |
John used RGS'S on all of my speakers behind the billet grills and cup holders, but he used acrylic speaker rings behind all of the grills and he attached the RGB strips to the acrylic rings.
|
1 Attachment(s)
Considered the acrylic rings, but prefer to light the inside of the speakers.
If I separate my 2 pair of speakers and sub into 3 branches and connect to the Oznium controller, will they flash to music at 3 different beats if set to blue only, or will the 2 branches on the R and G terminal not lite up since there won't be any voltage going to them, if I'm thinking right. 1st one with the lites just laying inside for an pic. It is really bright in dark. |

Thanks. Taking some work to make them fit behind the grill and run the wiring, but should look good when all are installed.
Just checked out the Oznium controller. I see that is a 4 channel. Can you control each channel separately? Know of a single channel controller with line-in? Thanks, BTW, Nice installs! |
A single channel controller makes every single light do the same thing. Having 4 zones allows to have a chasing, or flash pattern.
|
Just run each channel into a simple radio shack diode, then twist the 3 "output" ends of the diodes together and use that as your single channel output.

Anything that says UV is purple. They aren't near as bright as the other colors so you have to get a lot to get the same effect. I looked for ever too and these are the only ones I found. |
I got mine on amazon 3 kits plus the music controller to go around the perimeter of the boat.

I have been planing to do some of this to my boat. I just need to make sure I order the right kind of LED's. Can you tell me if these are the right type?

Its the million color controller from Oznium. I have all blue LED flexible lighting behind all my speakers, sub, cup holders, and underseating. Right now, each lighted unit is wired individually, with all wires running to dash and twisted together just for a simple switched on/off operation, till I figure out the controller aspect. This will allow me to have the ability to separate each unit and connect whichever I prefer to 1 of the 4 available circuits on the controller, as I understand it. (Keeping a uniformity of L/R balance) I'd just connect the lites wire leads to the - and B terminals of the controllers separate 4 connectors? Not using the R or G terminals, and this would flash the 4 circuits to music independently, as long as I keep the controller set to blue? Does that controller allow for 1 channel to flash, while letting the other channels stay solid, or do they all operate in same mode? Thanks |
Each channel will do something different.
