Attention Copeland's Phenomenon

Does anyone know if they will try to set the speed record this year? Possibly at the Kilo runs in Biloxi?

Steve 1 03-30-2012 02:11 PM

Whatever they do, I hope it is Successful and a Safe event for that team.

vette131 03-30-2012 03:15 PM

they have been testing lately. hopefully it will debut in Biloxi!!

Haven't heard much about "Phenomenon" for some time now. I hope that Al Copeland Jr. continues to make every effort to fulfill his fathers dream to break the "Propelled Speedboat World Record" of 227 MPH. Al Copeland Sr. was a legend and I wish that I would of met him but have always read alot about him, his parties and Offshore Powerboating. Phenomenon is one of the sharpest, wildest looking boat ever built on this planet and I think that the day will come (sooner then later) when Al Copeland Jr. will break this record in his fathers name, Al Copeland Sr.

Is this true???

chris@uga 04-01-2012 09:29 AM

How exactly does the "propelled" speedboat work record work? Surely there are a ton of drag boats that best this mph and surely they use propellers.

What sets this record apart from the drag boats?

been in this argument more then once the propeller boat world record set by a topfuel hydro is 261 and some change ,bottom line that IS the fastest propeller driven boat .:party-smiley-004:

Running for one kilometer instead of 400 meters.

And having an average speed of two runs in different directions. Not just one 1/4 mile run but having the ability to maintain the speed, control the speed and do it more than once without an engine rebuild.

drag boats have to back their record run up with in 1% on the same weekend of the set record so yes it takes 2 not 1 run to set a record . Bottom line they are both great records and my hat is off to all kinds of boats that go out and set the speeds. I was there the day Reggie set the v bottom record and i will never forget it. I have a problem with people saying the fastest in the world when it is in their class but not in the big picture . An offshore type of boat going 200+ is awesome but so is a topfuel hydro going 260+ difference is i would run the offshore boat at 200 , i would not get out of the electric chair to run the drag boat that fast and i used to dragrace boats.

They said one motor is out today, hopefully they,ll kick back and have a good time this weekend..

Looks like detox is having a good boat turnout:ernaehrung004:

vette131 04-28-2012 05:38 AM

The boat will be in the dry pits for viewing but will not run in the event.

offshorexcursion 04-29-2012 11:24 AM

Awesome boat, hope they run it soon. This boat and the sterling 1700 skater are taking soooo long to run and post some numbers that I am losing my wood! Like dial up porn..... :lolhit:

I'm surprised they don't have a spare motor.

BIGMC69 12-09-2013 01:17 PM

Ryan Beckley 12-09-2013 02:50 PM

purrfection 12-09-2013 05:15 PM

lightning jet 12-09-2013 06:14 PM

Greatguy66 12-09-2013 06:22 PM

Are they still going to make a stab at the record??

AB From Windsor 12-09-2013 07:18 PM

I've been waiting to see Phenomenon make an attempt on the record for several years now, in the memory of Al Copeland SR and what he meant to Offshore Powerboat Racing and being such a huge supporter of the sport. Al Copeland Jr. has to make this attempt and set a new speed record, period.
