TTT Can't believe a turbine with 8 hrs on it has not sold.

40FlatDeck 04-30-2012 04:31 PM

I have loved this boat ever since it was in an old Hot Boat magazine.....

What is the story on it? Size motors-how fast??? Are these things hard to start?

Something about the older MTI's that I really like.

I have been on that boat, it is insane. I have the old Hot Boat article on it also.

What's it going for?

nate 05-01-2012 12:07 AM

beautiful boat, but cant see why someone would skimp out on accessory switches when building a boat in that price range

What about the $10 gauges

Mastercraft240 05-01-2012 02:42 AM

Tough to insure a turbine I'd imagine as well

has sat for a while but just was serviced. t53 turbine engine's
I had the boat going 155.3mph detuned 4' chop. Turbins are tricky to start but learn the sequence and your fine. Boat has approx 8 hrs in water, One of Randy's best made must be sold call David Woods today. Jo

Catmando 05-02-2012 12:58 AM

T53s are like 1400-1500hp? Why did you detune it? Any advantage to that?

I like a race canopy on a boat that will run that fast. Those Buzzi Trimax drives are bulletproof and much lighter than Arnesons and BPMs.

demonmaestro 05-02-2012 04:11 AM

this boat has been listed on there for quite some time.. maybe asking too much..???

How would you know the weight of either?

Well that sums it up:thankyouthankyou: although the opposite is true.

Catmando 05-04-2012 12:04 AM

Arneson and BPM make the Trimax look like a toothpick so I just assumed it would be lighter. Tommy Bahama was the fastest Supercat in the fleet(when it ran) and it had Trimax drives.

No disrespect to Arneson or BPM. Great drives too I would put either one on my boat.

Joe Todesca 05-04-2012 07:46 AM

I Loved watching Mr N Slide that boat around turns a 140mph.

Cat, what you have to look at is the package not the legs. The BPM/Arneson (same basic drive ASD8) have the drop box there in plain site. The Trimax needs a drop box also and even if you don't see it there has to be one in order to work and they have a weigh too. BPM states 140 lbs complete.. That is light, very light.

Weigh a 6' long shaft, a stainless steel stuffing box, and a stainless steel shaft strut and it will exceed 140 lbs, then throw in a gear'd drop box inside the boat and 140lbs is gone by far.

Catmando 05-04-2012 01:27 PM

What's your weight advantage over the SSM6 drive?

To be honest? I have never read where they (Mercury) publish the weight of their drives... But it is about 1/2 the weight of the SSM#6. The BPM model is even lighter as it is 100% aluminum.
