Prop Question
 

I've got a line on a set of props for a pretty good price ( I think), but I don't know a lot about props so I was wondering if a visual is good enough to be sure they're ok or is there some other things I should check to make sure I'm not getting rooked? They're a set of BIII 24p.

A few GOOD hi-res pics is usually good enough for me for a stock prop anyway. I've bought and sold props, no issues. My radar goes off when I see "labbed".

Ha! not smartazz at all, I think we've all been bitten in the arse by the simple details. Yeah, BIII, just never bought props before.

Ok that brings up another question why do you have a bravo 3 on a 27zx??? Doesn't seem like the right drive for that boat.

That's what it came with when I got it, which is actually a good thing, sort of. Don't want to invest the $ it would take to make this single engine pig go really fast, I shoulda got one with twins and steps. So a B III gives me fairly decent performance up to about 45 - 50. At least that's what I tell myself to feel better when everyone else is blowing by me.:( Probably switching to a cruiser next year anyway.

Bravo III's are good drives! They are very quick on the bottom and range for bigger, heavier, less powered boats. They also steer very well and are actually pretty strong!

The real question is, what props do you currently have on there? Are your props destroyed?

For most Bravo III set ups, i usually recommend to replace with what is on there unless you need to gain or drop RPM. I would no necessary recommend "labbed" B3 props because there will be no real advantage to the thinness and cup on a counter rotating set up (most of the time)... -Eric

ship me a 28 & a 30. When I called he said the 28 was ”worked” to a 30:bsflag:

Ask the seller if they ever were repaired for dings, dents, and cracks. Normally if the props were repaired, they will have a stamping on them, with a letter and numbers.
