Funny you mentioned blisters. Our 1986 22P has been left in the water (fresh) all season every year since new. Zero blisters anywhere, does not leak a drop. I'm told the 22's have a foam core transom.

Update
Thought I would update the board. Ended up buying a 1990 P22 454 w/bravo yesterday. The boat ran great at the trial and I'm looking forward to putting some miles on it this weekend getting rid of he old fuel.
Thanks for the help educating me on the Pachanga. Cool little boat! |
Hey guys new to the forum and happy to be finding a lot of useful info here. I grew up on the water and a good friend that had a P22 with a 350, which we ran almost every day for 3 summers. What a great boat! Also had access to twin screw 270 Sundance, which was also a great boat.
I am currently looking to pick something up that I can run around with and get my wife and kids accustomed to the water. If they take a liking to the water, I could see us graduating to something like the twin engine Sundancer (years down the road). The reason I'm looking at the Pachanga is because I like the lines and comfort of the boat. While I know the P22 will be easier to trailer, I only live 4 tenths of a mile from the local boat ramp. I'm seriously considering going for a P27 over the P22 for a couple of reasons to my rationale: Twin engins, so if I were to have a mechanical issue, I could limp home on one motor, a huge level of mental comfort with two kids aboard. The deeper cockpit seems like it would be safer and more comfortable with kids. More useful cuddy in the event that I will be able to convince the Mrs. to do an overnight on the boat. I know that the P22 would be easier to trailer, but given my proximity to the ramp, not sure that means much; it seams that a nice P27 is not tremendously more money than the P22. I would love to hear other thoughts. I would like to hear other thoughts impression and pros and cons on the 22 vs. the 27 (with twins). |
