Which mount do you use, Surf or Suction?

I use the Suction mount and never had a problem so far.
Never tried to mount to the back by the drives or anything by the water

Suction, Just make sure it's not on a waxed surface, it could fall off.

Im using the 3m mount. Had no problems with it, but I dont mind having a fixed location

The deck of my boat is waxed but maybe I'll just try the standard suction cup. I'm just worried about the camera coming off after landing off of a swell and the camera hitting somebody in the boat.

I use a back-up lanyard threaded to a grab handle from the camera. But I've never tested it, as I've never had the suction let go. On an open wheel track car, I duct taped it over the suction mount. That worked too.

I think that I would have the camera on a short tether, just in case it did come off after hitting a swell or wake.

I never had a problem with the big suction cup on a waxed surface. I just make sure the surface is dry, these suction cups don't need moisture like the small ones do. Once the suction cups are properly set they are not going anywhere.
