Hey Audiofn!!!

Just wanted to pick yer brain:D In your opinion who makes the best marine speakers 6.5in give or take a little, They will be mounted in my cockpit so they will be getting wet, also I am going to rig my system for sound quality, so I dont mind sacraficing volume for crystal clear mids and highs. Also do they make component sets for marine use like they do car audio?

Clarion makes a real good component set IF you can find them. Right now they are back ordered just like everything else in this industry it seems!! Anyhow other good ones are Allumapro speakers are great for Marine use. From there everything else is car stuff made for marine. The Babbs go from 5" to 10" speakers with nothing in btwn. :( :(

Audiofn, I understand MB Quarts are back ordered also, is there any separates out there that are of the MB's quality or should I try to find the MB's 218.19? I am using JL Audio amps (300/4=4x75watts a channel for mids/highs, 300/2 for the subs 2x150watts a channel) Is there anything speakers out there that will handle 75watts and what about the subs? Do the subs need to be marine? Any help with speaker or equipment selection would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robbie

Deyfy'n......I would not think that subs would have to be marine as long as they have sealed dust caps and rubber surrounds depends on what the back of the sub will be exposed to. But then again I am new to marine audio so check with FN.

Think about how much water will hit them and decide from there. If water is going to hit them then you need to find a sub that is going to hold up to that. Also a steel basket is a bad idea, so make sure you look for something with a Alluminum basket. Also the Marine speakers are generally white and match better to your interiors.
