How accurate is NADA Boats these days?
Sold mine so I'll be doing a lot of researching for my next boat. Any input on NADA Boats values?
Thanks Dan |
Not very. But congrats on the sale of the Nova, that was a clean boat!

sold my 252 for right at NADA with my trailer.
Bought my 342 for 18-20k below NADA |
Ive come to find nada useless

I think NADA values are only half the price of what boats are worth. :D :D
I've used for property tax reasons. It is only a "guide" and should be used as such. Heck.....it's right in their name! :D |
I think that NADA just subtracts a specific percentage of the boats value every year for depreciation. It's not a very accurate guide of what a boat is really worth IMHO. Looking at the used market will give you a better idea.

I just purchased my boat 2 months ago so here's a reference....
Boat: 1988 Wellcraft Nova Spyder 26 with 454 mag/bravo 1--500 hours Paid $7500 including a tandem axle trailer (I thought this was a pretty good price). --Seller was asking $8200 NADA value: $9500 plus $1000 for the trailer: $10,500 BUC value: 10,000-11,300 without the trailer. Personally, I think my boat is worth closer to $9500 but there is no way to know if that is accurate or not. Very good condition overall except it does have bottom paint which for most would devalue the boat. |
